CALORIES & EXERCISE 101

Calories are the amount of energy in food. When you do not use the energy it is stored as fat. This happens when you take in more calories than you burn off through daily activities. Exercise increases this calorie burn off and reduces the amount of fat stored. It is recommended to do at least 30 minutes to 1 hour a day of physical exercise.

Let's look at what activities burn the most amounts of calories in 60 minutes.

Kickboxing = 860
Jogging = 490
Bicycling = 420
Walking = 245

Important Stat: Nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. In addition, 32% of all men and 35% of all women in the US are considered Obese and slightly lower than that are considered overweight.
